Right now, disposable fashion is most definitely out of fashion and hand-me-downs are having a major revival. But when it comes to children’s clothing, only the most washable and wearable pieces stay fit for purpose after all that obligatory rough and tumbling and outdoors play. At Tom & Teddy HQ, we’re continuously checking out design innovation. We work closely with our factory to ensure every pair of trunks can hold up to prolonged periods of chlorine or saltwater swimming, and we regularly review the fit and finish to check that they’re suitable for hours of spring-board jumping or body surfing! Here are five fellow brands that we love for their play-proof and brilliantly durable kidswear.

Mini Boden
This British brand offers bright and cheery clothes for girls and boys (ages 0–16 years). There’s a distinctive ‘’Boden’’ look with lots of stripes, large–scale patterns and co–ordinating trims, but the major draw for us is that it all washes really well and seems to retain colour, even after some intense stain scrubbing! Heavier–weight cottons, double stitching and that extra bit of stretch all add up to hard–working gear that’s fun and stylish.
Columbia Sportswear
Columbia is well-known for its high-quality and hardwearing outdoor gear and its kidswear will keep your youngsters warm and dry during any adventure. For winter, they have some great snow-gear in cheery colours and their fleeces are thick and extra-cosy. You’ll find it hard to wear this stuff out!

Tootsa MacGinty
This unisex and ethical children’s label has brilliant sweats, tees and pants galore. Primary colours dominate the range, so you’ll always spot your kids in a crowd and did we mention the cosy collection of hats and gloves… This is amazing quality, stand-out clothing for fast and furious playtime.
Mini Rodini
The higher-end Scandi label for clothes your kids will treasure. That’s not to say that Mini Rodini’s threads are too precious to wear–you’ll find plenty of casual sweats and chunky knits to wrap your little ones up in. Hailing from Sweden, this sustainably responsible brand has a wonderfully creative spirit and adopts unusual artistic designs. T-shirts keep their shape wash after wash, colours stay bright and seams are ultra-secure. These are special clothes for style-conscious minis!

Fat Face
Fat Face has great selection of clothing for children aged 2 to 13 years. There’s thick padded jackets, soft sweaters and loads of jersey to layer under everything. We like the simple and functional approach of this brand as well as its reasonable price-points. It looks and feels just right for everyday exploring.
