Where to go for a beach day (almost) every day!

Yes, there are actually a few climatically blessed destinations in the world where there are more beach days throughout the year than stay-indoors-and-shelter-from-the-rain days! We’ve taken a good look at the weather charts and here are our top picks for taking to the sand and jumping in the waves, no matter the month.

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

Head in a general direction towards North West Africa and you’ll hit the Spanish territory of the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro). Of these seven main islands – there are several smaller islands and islets that make up this archipelago – Gran Canaria is generally warm all-year-round, especially around its southerly resort areas. With an average of over 3000 hours of sunshine per year, there are top temperatures of up to 40°C in the summer months and it’s generally 20°C – 23°C in January – perfectly warm enough for lounging in the sand dunes and splashing along the shore.  Take a closer look at this destination here: http://www.grancanaria.com/turismo/en/

Hawaii

With average highs of 26°C-28°C in the winter and 29°C-31°C in the summer months, Hawaii really is an all-year-round holiday destination. Swimming in the ocean is possible during any month (the water will feel warm if you’re coming from cold and wintry January weather, although the locals often say it’s a little chilly for them!). For the driest weather, opt to stay at the leeward west and south sides of any of the islands as these are the areas most sheltered from the winds. Check out https://www.gohawaii.com/

Noosa, Australia

One of our all-time favourite destinations, the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Australia has stunning beaches in abundance and a warm tropical climate. The town of Noosa is the perfect place to base yourself as you explore the coastline and soak up those plentiful rays. On average, temperatures drop to around 19°C-21°C in the winter months (June to August) but a sheltered bay can always be found and a swim in the warm ocean guaranteed! Mombasa, Kenya

Historical and colourful Mombasa on Kenya’s eastern coastline makes for an exotic vacation option. A tropical climate, the Indian Ocean and white powder sand give this destination all the ticks needed for a fantastic beach break. Average temperatures range from around 24°C to 29°C and any short bursts of rain during the April-June ‘’rainy season’’ are in the afternoons before the sunshine is out again! And here are a few more destinations that can’t boast year-round beach time but are warm and welcoming with fantastic beaches that you can enjoy for most of the year…

Jamaica

Boasting a very pleasant tropical marine climate, Jamaica a good choice for a beach vacation. True, it does rain here (May is usually the month for the most wet weather) but any showers are short lived. After 10-20 minutes of rainfall, it’s dry again and the sun won’t be far behind. With average temperatures of between 27°C and 29°C, this a warm destination even in the winter months – you’ll just need a sweater in the evenings when the temperature drops. Avoid September and October – potentially stormy months and not great for lazing on the sand!

Goa

Hot and heavenly tropical, Goa on India’s western coast in the southern half of the country, offers a whopping 8 months of dry and rain-free weather. Travel there between October and May to avoid the monsoon season altogether and enjoy this region’s beautiful resorts and beaches.

Dominican Republic

This is a mid-April to mid-December kind of place. Long beachy days await you with only the chance of a strong wind now and again to blow sand on your beach towel!
